Auxiliary water pump wire
Hi fellow T25 owners. Please help. I bought a van with what I’m pretty sure is an AAZ engine conversion.
The auxiliary water pump does not come on and I’ve found a wire that when I touch it to ground I hear the pump running. Brown/red.
Where does this wire lead to, it’s snapped and I can’t find anywhere it makes sense to go to- I’ve spent hours scouring this site trying to find its location and can’t find anywhere on the van that looks the same and all sensors appear to have wires filling all of the allocated slots already. Abit of a novice when it comes o electrical I’m afraid!
Many thanks in advance. Pic hopefully attached!

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
take a look at the wiring diagram for diesel on Syncrosport website
wiring diagram
2nd page shows the pump and sensor in the wiring having common connection at the relay and that red/brown wires go to the pump and the sensor
so you can check if the wire you have is for the thermo-switch or is the completion of the supply to the pump, both are red brown both common at the relay terminal 2
Someone with a JX will be able to tell you exactly where the switch should be, and how many thermo sensors/switches they have and where
Chances are the engine was installed using the manifold from the donor vehicle or the vehicle itself was previously non turbo engine so no aux water pump so no thermo-switch provision, you may have to change to the correct manifold to be able to fit the switch

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
There’s usually a sensor on the hose flange on the head
Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
Thank you so much Aiden, I will take a look this afternoon. Struggling to post a pic, but I’ll be back with an update tomorrow. Appreciate your help.

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
the sensor should be fitted to the manifold on the side of the head that feeds these two pipes

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
Thanks again Aidan.
How do I upload photos please?
I’m working on the van tomorrow, so I’ll come back to you once I have a look.
The only plug that looks free seems to be on the throttle body. (I.e not in or near the pipes in the pic that you’ve sent)
My engine bay looks a little bit different to that and also only has one coolant tank installed and is fed from a manifold off the large pipe that you have circled.
I think this might be where there is supposed to be a temp sensor and someone’s bodges a different connector and then removed the expansion tank- so it feeds straight into the header from this manifold.
Seems like a bit of a Frankenstein.
Once I figure out how to post pics, I’ll get a few up for you to take a look.
Again, really appreciate you taking your time to help me.
Darren.

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
throttle body ?
Me thinks it isn't an AAZ : )
Are you sure it is even diesel

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
Sorry this is the first diesel I’ve ever worked on so I’m not exactly certain of the terminology’s!
As for the sensor in the location that you circled, there is one but the wires going in to it are:
Yellow/red;
Blue/white;
Brown/white x 2 wires.
The engine looks like an AAZ to me, but im not by any stretch of the imagination an expert. The block says 1.9 TD on the side- it has a kkk turbo. (Kkk14 I think) So I’m not 100% but having a punt based on the pics I’ve seen. The engine is difficult to see the number- it seems barely legible to me.
Thanks.

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
is that a plastic water manifold with 2 x 2pin sensors fitted ? or are the wires commoned on to one sensor ?
yellow red is temp gauge
blue and white is glow plug temp sensor
brown and whites are the earth contacts for them
someone who knows JXs can advise you where the single contact sensor that fits in a metal manifold is/should be

Re: Auxiliary water pump wire
The single sensor (green colour! has all 4 wires going into it (4 connector positions, hence the confusion as to where the mystery aux pump sensor goes) all 4 taken by the colours mentioned on my last post
Thanks for clarifying what each colour does.
Maybe I just need to buy the metal manifold and replace the existing one that seems wrong? I mean I’m thinking it’s not correct anyway as it feeds coolant from there into the header tank and the expansion must have been removed because of this extra hole! More and more confused by this van the more I try to sort out. I can certainly see how they become money pits!
Almost ready to fit my oil cooler too. £££
Thanks again Aidan
