dash voltage stabiliser transistor

Post by bluket25 »

well think i need a new voltage stabilizer in dash. so have read up a few forums and thoght i could get one at maplins but no they dont do one. did ring vw but the guy i spoke to didnt have a clue what i was on about. so i hung up. any way i think ive found some after a lil reserch. for 50p. only thing is the pins are at the opposite ends so will have to put it in up side down and a washer to pick up space to reach heatsink if know what i mean. any way item number ( kca 7810 )at http://www.farnell.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Available easy enough - pity you don't need a 7812 - I've a bag of 50 sitting on my workbench! I would make sure that you get a 1.5A one not 1A to give you leeway.(I don't know what rating the original is)
Plenty on Ebay.

The only thing against those ones is that they are the 1A variety not 1.5A.

Good point - I will C&P that onto the other thread.

Wonder how much current the fuel and temp gauges use, best to err on the safe side tho :)

I don't know either that is why I suggested use the 1.5A - I couldn't find a datasheet for kca7810, assuming that was the original part no..
