Jump seat fitted

Hello, its been a little while since I did this but I wanted to post it up here anyway coz i'm well chuffed with the results.

The van had one of those loo containing buddy seat boxes that was free standing and wasn't fixed in. This was no use to me as it couldn't be used while on the move. I have 3 small children and so needed an extra spot big enough for a group 1 seat.

So, i picked up one of those quick-release, multivan flip-up jump seats from a show and fitted it instead. My van didnt have any of the fixing points for the retaining bar and so rather than drill through the wheel arch, i used a length of metal bar fixed to the seat box inside the cubby hole. You can't really see it when the retaining bar is fitted. Next I drilled a couple of shallow holes into my ply floor and job done.









Now when we go camping, all 3 kids have a proper seat with a 3 point belt and when we arrive, I throw up the kyham and chuck the jump seat and all the kids seats into it. Sorted.

It is fitted through steel isn't it. In an accident you don't want the seat ripping free. When you say fixed in cubby hole you've drilled through the cubby hole steel wall and used a length of steel bar inside to bolt through.

Yes, that's right. A length of flat steel bar is bolted to the seat box inside the cubbyhole hole. The jump seat retaining bar is fixed to the flat steel. This was simply to avoid having to drill through the wheel arch. The seat sits a little higher than it would have in a multivan because of my raised floor but it is solid when fitted. In the event of a head on crash, forward motion will be prevented
by the passenger seat. The 3 point belt should prevent movement in the opposite direction.

nice but how have you got over the top mount for the seatbelt??? Point to note there are two actual mounting point on the pillar for belts!

I didn't fit the belts, a professional outfit did it. I've never been that happy with how they worked that bit out. Where is the second mounting? Is it there on all body types? If so, i might reposition it myself.

Yeah think there is on all, mine was a panel van and has 2! looking at yours the other one should be about 4 ish inch below the top one
