Some a*** stole my keys

Post by jokeruk »

Yep, a friends house was broken into a couple of weeks ago and part of what went was my van keys (because it's at the back of their house at the moment). Their car went in the theft, which has been recovered, and i've been waiting to see if the keys were in it. It's not looking good though so now I've got to start looking at options.

I know that the keys I had only actually fitted the ignition and bootlid, so I'm thinking that a replacement lockset (if anyone has one!) is the answer? Other option of course is trying to find the codes to get replacement keys cut but then I'm not guaranteed to have the right keys!

What do you guys think?

Cheers,
Leigh

I've opened half the vans I've owned with a 10p piece, try it

Erm, is there?

Anyway - I may have a lockset coming at some point, but in the meantime i'm still needing to sort the engine out (nope, it's still not done from early this year due to me snapping my achilles and not being able to do stuff!). So, I've read that although it's not 'public' knowledge on here as such, it is fairly easy to hotwire it. Can anyone PM the info as I'm hoping to get it started this weekend (with or without the replacement lockset).

Cheers,
Leigh

Even if you Hotwire it chap, steering lock will be on.

Best wait until you have lockset and set to on steering column then, its only cast.

Will PM you how to do it without hacking wires, takes about, ooooooooooo, a minute

:ok

Much appreciated fella - and will point out that i'll not be trying to move it without the lockset - for that precise reason.
