A handy little web page for wbx fans

Post by silverbullet »

Basic data for all the wbx engines including valve timing, if you like this sort of thing...

I'm sure this data is available elsewhere but since it's all been put on one page it saves a lot of trawling

Holy thread revival Batman! As I've got a bee in my bonnet about valve timing and lift at the mo, for the record:

Cam lobe lifts in mm:

Late DG (earlier DG may well be the same but with slightly longer timing)
Inlet 7.0
Exhaust 6.5

MV (and DJ, SS)
Inlet 8.5
Exhaust 8.0

Multiply by appropriate rocker ratio to get valve lift.

Resurrection #2

I bought a few NOS cams a while ago, 4-rivet type and all with -3 gears.

Inlet lift 7.5mm
Exhaust lift 7.0mm

:?

Could perk up a DG without going mad?

The cams have a distinctive "long" centre bearing surface:

I have no idea of the valve timing but I suspect that they are Aircooled 2 litre because there was a quantity of these hyd lifters in the job lot too:

I like good info. I'm not sure if I've posted the link before, but I did scan-to-PDF the 2.1 workshop manuals, links for anyone interested:

Workshop Manual Volkswagen Transporter 1980> Digijet, Digifant Fuel Injection and Ignition System (2.1 ltr. Engine)

You did do a while back and I for one have it downloaded - thanks very much! :ok

I probably need to study it more carefully and then ask more questions.

The part number on that lifter box is "113 109 309 C" which is a standard 1200-1600 solid lifter, and that is indeed what they look like. I suspect that is what the cam is as well - a 73-79 4-rivet non-hydro cam Only way to know for sure is to measure the profile in detail and compare to a stock late-1600 and hydraulic WBX.
