Pierburg 2e3 Wiring

Post by melvin »

Good Evening all,
Does anyone here know the correct wiring for the connections on a 2e3 carb for a 1.9l petrol?
My Choke heater wire is not connected to anything at all, and the wire to the by-pass valve is connected to the coil +ve. and the partload duct heater wire seems to be connected to a wire that goes into the abyss if the engine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as the wiring diagrams in the haynes manuals don't seem to make much sense to me.
Cheers in advance

Melvin

This is from memory so I stand ready to be corrected :?
The thick (6mm red) manifold pre heat one connects to terminal 87 on the pre heat relay (its in the black box full of spaghetti in the rear lh corner of engine bay)
The other 2 wires, choke and by pass valve (thinnish black on mine)piggyback one of the conectors on the thermoswitch set in the coolant hose at left side of engine.
Make sure the thermoswitch is working properly (should be live only when cold)
Got to agree the old style wiring diagrams were much easier to follow.

Ooh did I just answer my first question :D

Cheers for that :D , I'll go and have a look later, I know for sure that the choke heater wire isn't connected to anything, so the possibility of the others being connected up wrong are quite high. The van is running very rich, to the to point where the other day I took out the tank thinking that I had a fuel leak but luckily the tank was in quite good condition so and extra coat of hammerite was applied and the tank was returned.
