I noticed today that my alternator bracket is broken. The slotted end has snapped, just below the point where the bolt grips the slot, so at the moment the only thing keeping that support bracket in place is the tension of the alternator belt and the fact that both ends are bolted up tight.
I'm pretty sure I read a thread on here about somebody having trouble getting a replacement for this bracket, although I can't find that thread now. Does anybody know where I can get a new one from? I traced round mine before I put it back on the engine - it looks like this:
"I'm a man of means, by no means....King of the Road!"
Just noticed this thread I'm in the same need of a bracket ashamedly mine didn't get broken it disappeared somewhere between having lots of threads done and arriving back with me, any help would be very gratefully received.

Hi Keith
That's a nice offer. Thanks to Cosmicsheep I have a replacement arriving any day now, so I can post my broken bracket to you. Perhaps you can PM me your postal address.

Part 12 is the offending part, and I have the 45A alternator. Part 12A puzzles me though - from memory I don't think it's present on my engine (I'd have to check again to be sure), and since it spans two fixed points I can't see what it's for. I don't think it's the 90A part, and there's no reference to part 12A in the table on the Partsbase page.

Etos says the 45/65 amp bracket is 025903253
Classic sell them for £4.09

Classic parts are based in Germany and sell lots of parts for T3's that are obsolete in this country. many parts they have put back in production.
There are two options for purchases from them (and usually take anything up to two weeks in both cases) you will need to know the part number of the parts you need
Option 1
contact http://www.brickwerks.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; via email (not phone) and ask them to order the part(s) for you from classic (as they order parts every week from them) and once the part arrives they will arrange payment with you and post the part onto you
Option 2
http://www.vwheritage.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; are the UK partner for classic parts (free delivery over £35). Lots of their parts are listed on their website (some with horrendous mark ups some are priced fairly). Those that are not listed can be ordered through them from classic using the classic parts search and order facility. I also do this to compare the heritage price (after mark up) to what classic charge

No idea what 12A is either. It is not the 90amp bracket as that is also number 12 (just a different part number listed)
Though 12a 025115632 is listed as available from classic
I assume you know about vagcat.com? Register on the site then look in the parts catalogue under type 2 and your reg year for part numbers
