...and the garage says fill it til it overflows (level ground) and to make matters more confusing, the Comma Data Sheet book at the motors factors I use says 3 litres! Confused.com!!!!!!!!

Level the 5 speed overflows at ~4 litres.

Hi, i'm new to the forum but have followed it since buying an 82 2l AC Devon 3 years ago.

I am about to change my gearbox oil and have read the forum and wiki about GL4. My question is can i use Comma EP80-90 GL4 instead of Comma SX75-90 GL4?
The EP is about half the price at Wilkinsons and they dont sell the SX.

Want to do what is best for the van.
thanks

Hi Gerry

EP80-90 GL4 is the right oil, the SX75-90 GL4 is a semi synthetic oil and a little thinner when cold.
So slightly easier gear changes I've found since changing to this oil.
The important factor is GL4 or GL4/5.
Not GL5 alone as this can degrade some internal metals in the gearbox.

Changing the oil is a worthwhile exercise good for the health of the gearbox.
Be sure to loosen FILLER bung before draining as these can be very tight and you may need professional help but you'd be stuck with no oil in the gearbox!

Thanks Croc

I'll go with the EP GL4 and follow the pics on the wiki. Also thanks for the tip on the drain plug.
