Oil temperature gauge WBX

I fitted one of these:

It screws straight into the sump plug hole. Then ran a cable to one of these:

Works a charm and seems to correspond pretty accurately to what my coolant temp display reads.

I saw that sump plug sensor and wondered if the hex on a WBX would be too large for the recess it sits in?
can you get a socket on that?

Normally WBX sump plugs have a reduced size hex to get the socket on.

Ooops, forgot to mention that! Yes you're absolutely right Itchyfeet, a regular socket won't quite fit. I use a box spanner which goes on fine.

how do you apply a torque wrench with a box spanner, or do you just guess torque?

I just guess the torque always erring on the not-so-tight side! If it leaks, nip it up a bit more. In my experience after half a dozen or so oil changes it hasn't leaked yet.

Mine rattled out once, there are risks of being too loose or too tight.
