What is the likely problem with a clutch pedal that sticks downs? Worn clevis pin? Worn main pin?
It stuck down twice and couldn't be moved back up at all - it was jammed solid and only managed to free it eventually by stamping on it hard a lot of times! After that it returned to normal. Before I cripple myself laying on my back in the footwell is there anywhere that the mechanism could foul due to wear? Not looking forward to getting under there with my arthritis.

Re: Stuck down clutch pedal!
is it definitely sticking due to wear at the pedal end ? you couldnt pull it back up by hand ?
I ask because I had a similar issue with my MK6 Golf recently , the pedal went to the floor and stayed there.... but I could lift it back up easily by hand or hooking my foot under it and lifting. This was caused by a failed master cylinder.

Couldn't lift it by foot, hand, length of pipe as lever. Solid as as though it were welded in place! Only by stamping down on it was something freed off. I've still to brave getting under there - I may need someone to pull me back out by my feet if I get there!

Good luck, hope its not a serious problem.

Re: Stuck down clutch pedal!
Well just had a fumble up and under there and looked as best I can - cannot see or feel anything that might catch. Looks like there is grease on the main pivot pin likewise the clutch cylinder clevis pin. I have discovered that the return spring is missing though!!!!! I have never had any trouble like this before and haven't found any pieces of spring or spare spring anywhere so this is a mystery. At present the clutch is working normally as it has always done. I will search for a misplaced spring up there as that may have pinged off and lodged itself somewhere.

Re: Stuck down clutch pedal!
The problem!!!

Time for a new clevis and pin and weld up and redrill that slot so that it resembles the 8mm hole that it should be! Not really enough meat on the pedal to put a bush in unfortunately.
You can see that someone has adjusted the wear previously without addressing the fault!
