I am replacing a number of bushes and ball joints on my T25 ready for its MOT and a forum member said that the fitting of the gold plates is wrong and should face the other way.
Should it be like this?
They look like they are designed to face in as they were originally on my van, can anyone shed some light?
Secondly i purchased the rubber bushes from GSF and they gave me one fatter and one more rounded, however again this does not look like what the previous owner had installed, looked like he had 2 fat ones.
If they are the correct ones, which goes at the top? the fat or smaller one?
the washers should be fitted like the second pic.that rubber on the left doesn't look like the correct one to me.according to vagcat they are both the same.ie the one on the right..

If its just those parts you mention I was able to remove and replace this link (after welding it) without to much trouble. On level ground chock rear wheels handbrake on. jack up front of vehicle with van jack, have axle stand to support if working under van. jack up slightly, undo nut on bottom of link remove lower washer & rubber bush and spacer, jack up further and as wheel and suspension lower the link thread should move up through spacer, readjust axle stand. If badly rusted / siezed into place tap link with hammer upwards to free but don't damage thread on link, use a piece of hard wood or a soft faced mallet. when jacked to point where wheel will spin free recover upper rubber bush and upper washer, and if you find as I did spacer is solid in the control arm it will have to be hammered out as it shold be a loose fit in there, if this is the case link will not be high enough to clear top of spacer, spacer must be loosened with tapping with a hammer, or drift to get near it. The washer which fits against the shoulder on the Stabilizer link (top part of thread) it is saucer shaped remember to fix it right way round outside edge up, then rubber bush, position over fixing point, lower van on jack keeping an eye on link going through fixing hole, when fully home fit spacer, rubber bush & lower washer (outside edge down), put on nut, tighten to specified torque 22 lbf ft (30 Nm) All possible with the wheel on. If you need to replace the roll bar to linnk rubber bush wheel will need to come of for more room to work, and this was a much harder job, lots of vaseline on the rubber and link to help it slip over. I think I've covvered everything if not some other will add what I have omited. Good luck
and a tip from member coilspring is to leave the top bush in a cup of near boiling water to soften it to make it go on easier
