This is the dash end of the wiring (with red, green & black connected to the speed sensor plug), as you can see none of the other wiring is connected - should it be?
Wiring Plug
Subaru Loom End Plug
dashboard end plug
The blue (rev counter) cable seems to connect to the orange cable on the scooby side which seems to go to the green connector
I have to say I'm still as confused as ever after taking these photos today. I tried to find a wiring diagram to name/label the wiring colours on the Subaru Loom End of the plug.
Any thoughts on all of this would be much appreciated
cheers

PS: I may start another thread with photos of all parts of the loom for identification purposes.
Ah, I know it well. I have detailed files... What do you want to know ?
TBH the pics look pretty normal, its usual with an engine swap to have the wiring colours of donor, then some 'foreign' colours (eg. a length of trailer cable or other multicore), which finally meets the VW wires at the dash. If you want to make sense of it, the best way is probably to just make a list.

Keith, I get income building harnesses for people, so I'm not going to post any information in your other thread, as that might ultimately lose me work. A lot of it is available on the internet if you're prepered to look for it. Your rev counter wire is orange/white.

PS. Be aware there are at least 3 significantly different versions of the na 2.5 in the lifetime of the UK market Legacy BE9, so some aspects of your engine will be irrelevant or confusing to others.

It is not meant to restart a very old thread. I came here after searching for the oil-buzzer shizzle problem with a Subaru engine.
So a short message with big pictures for future reference.
The rev-counter was a very easy solution because I bought the rev-relais that Busara offers. It takes some time to get sent and is not cheap, but it makes sure you can use the original VW loom and VW rev-counter. https://www.busaru.com/busaruparts/vantachfixer
Don't notice the colour of the loom, I lengthened it with specific colours which I noted for myself.
In my T7a plug it was the green wire;

RJES does a similar tacho adapter to allow the Subaru ECU to drive a T3 petrol tacho. It may work out more cost-effective than buying something from the USA.
