its probably different to my Westy Joker 1984 - but may help show some of the fixing brackets (4 main ones on floor) ....I've got various other stages of removal if similar or useful.

I'm sure there are more pro approaches than mine, but the metal strip on mine was mostly rusted away so no it came off anyway. This was mine, still sends a chill down my spine! I must have loads of the removal - I'll have a look this evening.

I took off the lining and saw the extensive damage, think I went with guitar string method somebody inside and somebody outside cutting. There wasnt much of a lip left holding mine, apart from above windscreen - i've got loads of pics of the job, I think if you send PM.

Just as an update, I've still yet to test the current, but gave it a good clean up and noticed that the hole in the top post had the remains of an old fuse in there, you can just see it on picture, imagine that was creating the hot spot. Removed and gave it a quick test and all seems ok, need to giv...

Sounds like a high resistance at the fuse to me. ....going right back to the start, I see what you're saying - its not that there is too much current being drawn and therefore blowing the fuse, its the holders heating up because of bad contact somewhere or through possible corrosion and melting the...

Its been on my shopping list for a while, so I'll get a multimeter and check.

It does however seem odd to me that the plastic holder will melt prior to the strip.

Pretty sure its the right fuse - 16a (red) slot 10. Stand to be corrected. Actually think some of the others are wrong..

Ok, for an electrical novice what would be the likely cause of the high resistance

Ok to answer my question, I guess the suggestions will be - possibly the switch or the earthing... the switch looked ok, but I guess worth a go first off.

I daren’t really post this as I know its well covered, but, after spending the last week with the dash out replacing the heater blower motor and putting in new resistors (should of put mod in I realise) but using it today, the fuse blew again, well nearly blew and smelled of heated plastic.
