Re: Exhaust

If you have a propex onboard (ideal for an Aircooled), you could swap heat exchangers for some kind of J pipes and make up a halfbreed (see custom exhausts in the WIKI). My silencer now costs just £25 to replace if it goes. Its an alternative to stainless anyway. https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Exhaust...

Re: Exhaust

I recently bought 2 new heat exchangers from Brickwerks, with the club discount they were the cheapest. Only time will tell if they are any good. At the moment I have heat in the van which is a bonus and exchausts that do not blow, so im happy. Total cost for 2 heat excahngers, 4 cylinder gaskets a...

Exhaust

Hi all So I was wondering if anyone knew of any options regarding an exhaust system upgrade? It's a 2.0l CU engine. The heat exchangers are almost rusted out too, so was thinking about taking the plunge and replacing the lot, but I can't seem to find a great deal of options with the usual retailers ...

Re: Rear air vents - which kind do you have?

I meant to finish this post a while back... so it turns out that my original metal vents were cut out and replaced with the plastic ones some time in the past... no idea when though, I should trawl through the service folder, try and find the receipt!

Re: FIXED. Stalling after choke, only one carb getting fuel

Hi all, just to report back... Turns out the issue was down to the left carb having a warn/failing needle valve, letting in too much fuel and causing the poor idling and ultimately stalling. Huge thanks to Mike (BigHerb) for both diagnosing and fixing the problem - drove all day today with no issues...

Re: Stalling after choke, only one carb getting fuel
Shouldn't be doing that. The float valves are leaking or the the float level is to high. They may have been replaced and the wrong washer used under the valve, the washer should be 1mm thick all the other carbs use a washer 0.5mm thick.
Hmm, I did wonder... so what happens is after ...

Re: Stalling after choke, only one carb getting fuel

Thanks for the feedback folks, will check the vids etc tonight.

The fuel was trickling within the carb itself, sorry if I made it sound like it was leaking, it wasn't.

Stalling after choke, only one carb getting fuel

Hi all I've read other posts regarding the poor idling and stalling once engine drops off the choke/revs - which is what I'm getting, however after going through a few things I'm still stumped, and I've noticed that (when I was cleaning the carbs) the left carb is getting plenty of fuel but the righ...

vapour lock, brakes, squealin, soft, long travel, temporary

Hi all I've had a good read through old posts on the above but would appreciate some opinions on first things to look at for my circumstances... Details: - 2l CU petrol 1980 - After driving for 30 mins - Pull out of petrol garage and an intermittent squeak begins (sounded like the rear) - Squeak mat...

Re: Rear air vents - which kind do you have?

Hmm, okay well just double checked my VIN number and it's a 10 digit number, and it confirms it's a 1980 vehicle.... gonna have to get right in there and see if those rear quarter panels are original, or if they were cut to fit the black plastic sections in...

Re: Rear air vents - which kind do you have?

Cheers for the links - will have a butcher's in a bit... Re VIN number, will also check that when I get the van back from the shop... should be next week, but I do know it's was registered in '80, have all the paperwork at home. I don't really have a preference for the vents, but I am currently tryi...
