Remove the 1600 engine and sell it to a beetle owner.
Fit a 2l Aircooled engine (CU) job done!
You will also need to swap the gearbox, but the cable bell housing from the 1600 box will fit a 2l box no prob.....easier than it sounds.

Re: 1982 T25 Westfalia heater not working?
Does it blow cold air (all be it weakly) if you switch it on at the controller? If so flick the switch over to 'hot' and you should hear a ticking noise from below the sliding door (heater fuel pump). After about 30 seconds the fan should speed up and after a couple of mins tepid air will wheeze out...

Re: From cable to hydraulic clutch.
Bit late to the party on this one...but just in case it helps anyone else....
Change the bellhousing and keep the cable clutch....soo much easier and the cable clutch is more than up to the job and not heavy on the foot either.

In this picture, to the rear of all the drunk people, you will see on the red van, the 2.5m "oh look my van is full of rain" style awning..... To the right, on the classic Aswan brown van, is the vast covering provided by the luxurious 3m 'Harvest Festival' Awning...(all is safely gathered...
