Thanks for all your suggestions.
I had checked most of those places before posting will keep syncrospares details to add to useful list though.
Finally found one at volks heaven today.
Now I'm just hoping that replacing that solves the problem. Got a new fuel tank going in too.

Where can I get a fuel filler nozzle?
By Tomorrow?! It seems that they've discontinued the plastic fuel neck that goes from the tank to the rubber bit on the later tanks. I've got an '81 2 litre but trying to get a new fuel tank and JK suggest a later one but need to change nozzle. Even VW can't get me one! Any suggestions greatly recei...

Hi We're also going that way in July but only as far as Angouleme for a wedding then working our way back up to St Malo over a couple of weeks. The Indigo sites look lovely for big sites and reasonably priced too. Could you let us know what that book's called please? Anybody know any other good site...

Old German van gas systems?
Have looked in Wiki and it's not at all clear to me.
How does the original German (no bottle?) gas system work.
We've seen a west joker with this and what seems to be a 2-way fridge, would it convert to using a leisure battery or would we need a new fridge?
Thanks for your help on this.
