Finally (had some issues with starter motor) it is all put back together again and it seems to be working fine. Thank you so much for all the help Aidan!

Re: Starter engine/solenoid problems
Can you clarify what your hearing. Do you get the thunk and no whirrrr or whirr and no thunk ( whish should not be possible ) Or thunkand whir but no turnove. The solenoid has two purposes, one is to throw out the gear to mesh with the flywheel and the secodn is to engage the main contats so if the...

Re: Starter engine/solenoid problems
Is your battery old, i had one that would play up like it was the starter ,it would turn the engine ok sometimes then nothing other times, i put a recon starter on and still had the same problem, a new battery sorted it. The battery is quite old. But also tried with jumper cables from another car...

Re: Starter engine/solenoid problems
The small cable going to the ignition seems ok and I have changed the cable lug. The big cable going to the battery seems fine.

Starter engine/solenoid problems
My T25 Diesel from 90 always starts very easily but all of a sudden it’s dead. When turning the key the starter engine starts but the typical sound of the solenoid don’t. Can I assume that the problem is mechanical and not a contact problem (since the starter is actually running). The reason why I’m...

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Bushing and seal changed and now it slides back without any problems at all!!
Tomorrow I’m going to it all back together and see how it works now.

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Have now removed bush and seal just to rule that problem out. It did not come out in one piece
so I have ordered new once. Will do the sanding you told me about before installing.

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Popped the lid back on today as the selector shaft was now moving more freely but as I suspected not enough for the spring to push it back. It is moving better than before.. I can move it in and out with just hands (two hands) but something must still be rubbing against it.

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
I think it is the part of the selector shaft towards the front of the car that is rubbing against the relay lever. I don't know if that sounds plausible but when I tried to really push the relay lever as far towards the front of the car as I could, I actually got the shaft to slide at least free eno...

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Thanks for all the advice Aidan! Would have been lost without it. It doesn't feel great to put it back together again when I have to tap in a shaft that should slide freely.. I was thinking about a couple of things: 1. When going through the forks/arms through the opening where the lid usually is, t...

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Thank you! I was finally able to get back to my little project tonight. Tried the 3rd 4th fork and it went back and forth fine. I also drained the oil and there were some filings on the magnetic stick. I hope it is possible to view the three films I attach. I'll try to attach them as embedded and as...

Re: Gear alignment T25/T3
Ok, so the "cup" moves freely in the case. Good idea removing the hat, that made it clear that the cup was not the problem. I also tried moving the fork for gear 3 and 4 (at least I think that was the fork I tried) and I can move it backwards, into gear 3 and back to neutral. Two pictures ...
