12.2v on a battery is only 50% charged. 12.6 12.7v volts is fully charged. a faulty battery can cause a amp drain but should be no more than 0.2amps with everything off. to test the starting battery leave van running for 5 mins, switch off make sure battery voltage is above 12.2v after leaving light...

oil temperature dipstick and gauge wiring
can anyone help please, i`ve just aquired an dipstick sender unit and oil temp gauge. the problem is it has no wiring or wiring diagram, and i`m confused (not hard) there is 2 terminals on top of the dipstick with no lables. on the gauge there is an 's' an '+' and an '-' which speak for them selves ...

have you got spark, if so with fuel should run, if runs then cuts out after couple of mins check spark again, it may be the coil breaking down under load and getting hot effecting its internal resistance. worth a try with other coil.
