Coolant level very high

I have suffered from coolant loss for the past year. Constantly needing to fill up the overflow tank behind the number plate. My garage spotted a leak from a pipe during the last visit to them a couple of weeks ago and put a new tight jubilee clip on. Not used since then. Last night we drove 130 mot...

Re: New tyre size recommendations std wheels

Is it OK to put a 195 R14 tyre on a standard spare wheel?

I just put 4 14" Carats on my van with 195 R14 tyres on. My spare is still 185 R14

Max ideally but to be fair, doesnt matter if they are over filled, they'll just spit out what they don't want and it'll find it's own happy place.

Thanks

Re: Header Tank level

Expansion tank, the one behind the number plate flap . It’s connected to the spout on the header tank via a short rubber hose. The coolant level in this goes up and down with engine temp, the only time to set the level of this is when the engine is clap cold as it is the only constant you can get Wh...

Re: Cooling System Query

Similar thing happened to us not long after we got it. Took it to our usual garage, who we no longer use after a series of fails on their part with our van, to get a cracking hose replaced. It overheated on the 3 mile journey home because they hadn't bled it afterwards. Happy ending though because w...

Re: Front to back cooling pipes

Personally I wouldn't get work like that done at a garage just before going on a long trip unless it was essential.

Better to have it done and drive around locally for a few days, just in case the mechanic wasn't on the ball.

Re: High top to pop top

Seems like a crazy approach to me. Far better to: Remove the high top. Deal with any roof issues you find. Install the pop top. Then you know your roof is sound underneath for another 40 years. Cut n shut another roof on and you import the hidden horrors on the roof underneath the pop top you bought...
