Re: fitting oversize wheels to a syncro
28" is as big as you want to go before the minus out weighs any positive. How would you get round trailing arm issue? :? I've seen a set that were cut and welded I figure I make a JIG so that I know they won't move whilst being welded, then I can trim back enough to clear (and a bit more for l...

Re: fitting oversize wheels to a syncro
It would probably hammer the wheel bearings. It might make the van gutless to drive, the gearing will be shot to bits. I'm thinking not to go quite as big as the landy pictured above, maybe 28" or 31" absolute maximum The rear trailing arm quickly puts an end to any ideas of massive tyres...

fitting oversize wheels to a syncro
I want to buy a syncro I want to make it a bit of a monster, would it kill any of the running gear if I were to fit oversize tyres I know it'll put the speedo out, and I'd need to extend the sliding door slider, maybe I'd need a ladder to get in assuming that the tyres are all the same size, is it g...

Re: tacho wiring
As far as I can see, Terminal 1 of the ignition coil for all models with electronic ignition (already a green wire on that terminal). Alternatively you could try wrapping a few turns of the new wire around the coil HT lead to form a tight coil and use the 'induction' method to provide the pulses (i...

Re: tacho wiring
If you are using an original VW dash with the integral tacho and correct flexi pcb it will be powered and earthed by the PCB. Conx 9 (colour coded green) at the multiconnector provides the trigger pulse for the tacho from the ignition coil and this also connects via the flexi pcb to the tacho. I wa...

Re: tacho wiring
Three leads on a tacho (sometimes four/five for the bulb if third party tacho fitted) but essentially a positive 12V, a ground or earth and the ignition pulse input (the green wire connects to this). These are the main wires that a tacho requires. is this an aftermarket tacho, or VW in the dash pod...

Re: tacho wiring
Pin 9 on the multiconnector colour coded green reserved for the tacho (even if not fitted), if its blank then you will need to run a feed but check first. thank you is that it, do I just connect it to the tacho and that's it, or does it need another wire to make the circuit I guess a loose wire ran...
