Any idea why this would be done ?

Re: No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

I’m confused as to what the mangled rubbery thing that is slid onto the push rod is, and why the pump end is corroded like it is

Re: No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

Thanks for all your replies. I have removed the fuel pump and push rod. The pump is functional when I operate it by hand when connected to the fuel feed. However the push rod looks very suspect!Image

Re: No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

I have put another 30 litres into the tank and fuel now flows freely and fills the filter. However still no fuel coming into carb feed pipe from pump. Does anyone know the size of the spline bolt it’s held on with. It’s not a bit I have to hand so need to source one. Looks like the pump has been cha...

Re: No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

Thanks davidoft. I will try putting more fuel in. There’s probably about a gallon and a half in the tank at the moment. Would this not be enough to run out of the tank freely ?
If adding more fuel doesn’t make it run out of the tank would this indicate a problem with the tank or breathers ?
TIA

Re: No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

Hi Sarran thanks for the reply. The inline filter is new but the hoses are not. I will be changing the whole fuel lines eventually before road use, still just trying to get the engine running. Am I correct in assuming unless the pump is actually pumping then no fuel will leave the tank? Even to the ...

No fuel to engine bay ‘81 CU

When turning over I have no fuel coming through to the engine bay through the feed pipe from the pump. In-line filter is also empty. Fuel runs from tank after a gentle suck on the hose. Is this normal or should it run freely I.e via gravity if I hold the hose down? Haynes manual refers to servicing ...

Re: Unknown wire

Original electronic distributor and coil yes. Green wire is present from coil to distributor body. This seems to be a slightly different shade than the oe green wire and also has an inline fuse, which made me think it’s not ignition related. Plugs are also sparking and the unknown wire hasn’t been c...

Unknown wire

Can anybody tell me what this wire is? Runs round the rear of the engine bay and has an inline fuse. Goes towards the water pump area at the right hand rear so I wondered if it might be that ? Also has a mangled connector on the end, wondered if this way maybe meant to be in the connecting block on ...

Re: Master cylinder mount

Thanks for the reply Aidan. I’m still pretty baffled as to how the previous owner has managed this, my only assumption is that they have tried to force the pedal, given that the slave cylinder had seized. I know of a couple of people breaking later vans 85 onwards but unsure whether a pedal assembly...

Master cylinder mount

The guy who I bought my t25 from has somehow managed to break the alloy plate which holds the clutch master cylinder, behind the pedal. Anyone seen anything like this before ? (Doubtful) and any advice on replacement would be much appreciated. It’s a cast part by the looks of it and not something th...

Re: Spotting previous modifications

Thanks for that ! Any idea why the vacuum unit on the dissy would be done like it is on mine ? There’s no vacuum hoses, going to the air box like in your picture, and the hose you have highlighted seems to go elsewhere tooImage

Re: Spotting previous modifications

Thanks for clearing that up Steve I’m not really sure why I expected to find the pin type. Theoretically if all the coil and Leads and capAre the correct type I should be able to replace the plugs for new ones of the same model?
