Honda is the only engine manufacturer that use an anti-clockwise rotation on some of there engines, random but true. :shock:

Thanks for the reply edoh did that this morning put in a new bush cleaned the end of the starter put a drop of oil in to aid rotation. I tried the starter with the engine out and it spins away quite happily but struggles after a few turns with V8, Just to check, there are three wires on the solanoid...

Ok read the post, starter is a LUCAS and its for an up to 1982 1.6 or 2.0 Aircooled T25, It turns over when it is cold but after about 10 seconds or so gets a bit warm and the performance goes down the swanny.

:cry: I think the problem may be the starter motor, although its brand new, think that it doesn`t have the poke to turn the motor,may have to look into one that offers more turning power.

Have checked most of that,still doesn`t explain why the battery earth lead is getting hot, i think it means that there is a power darin and that the power is being earthed premiturely,Is this a correct assupmtion?

Yes the upper one does go into a built in duct on the rear facing right hand side of the rad. Just needed some confirmation as which was which?? If that makes sense. :)

Thanks i`ve got all the bits from T25 diesel pick up, just haven`t worked out where they go yet. The ones i have are steel pipes so will radiate a bit more heat from the engine.

It is not a job I have (yet) had to do but Mr. Haynes says..... 1. Remove spare wheel and spare wheel carrier. The carrier supports are secured by hairpin clips that can be prised out with a screwdriver. 2. Remove the undertray from below the radiator, this is secured by two self tapping screws. Mmm...
