I found a complete new late model stainless steel JX exhaust for an excellent price, and would like to fit it to my AFN Syncro.
Any one has any idea about an appropriate adapter ? I prefer not to cut and weld the new exhaust pipe.
TIA,
Oren

Re: Mercedes Steels
Only markings on the outside are: DE ET31 6Jx15H2 19/01 KBA 43816 I'll see if I can get some time this weekend to take one off and have a look at the back. As long as you don't see a Mercedes Benz part number on the outside, the wheel is NOT a MB wheel, but may be some aftermarket. The KBA is a Ger...

Re: Mercedes Steels
What else is stamped on the wheel ? If there is a stamped number in the format: 6394011602, it is an Original Mercedes Benz wheel (in this case the 16" on my Syncro). The first 3 digits identify the MB platform of which the wheel came off. 638 stands for Gen. 1, and639 stand for Gen. 2 Vito. t...

Not the cheapest, but surely the best: https://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/VCDS.php You can find UK distributors here: https://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.php You buy a licenced software. You can find some VCDS cables on ebay, but you will need to register any of these with Ross Tech to enable ...

Re: All Terrain Tyres
Had the Cooper, and they were totally rubbish. What did you find bad about the Coopers, I am after some AT tyres for my 2wd. I had this on my shortlist because they come in 205 70 r15. On paper they look good for me because they have rain grooves running around them, so presumably a bit more road f...

Re: All Terrain Tyres
Had the Cooper, and they were totally rubbish. Currently with the BFG for 11000 miles. They are excellent and worth the higher price. I use Toyo Open Country on a 2016 Suzuki Jimny, and they are great. Be aware that some dimensions are produced in load range variants and you will need the heavier one.

Welcome,
A friend with a 1983 Hi Top Westy sourced the gutters and support beams which hold the gutters from https://www.paruzzi.com/uk/volkswagen/
This was 2 years ago, so they might still have in stock.

Re: Smaller Rims, fat tyres
Smaller rims will not fit the brakes.
If you will manage the brakes, you will ruin the road holding characteristics of the van.

Re: 1.9 TDI engine identification
I attach a photo from the manual of 1990, showing the JX turbo diesel engine.
The engine number of the ahu is stamped on the machined area in the same location.

Re: Wheel swap.
The figures 6j x 16 ET 54 H2, refer to a n MB wheel P/N 6394011602, which is stamped on the wheel. If this is the wheel, it originates from a second generation Vito, fits the T25 without any problem and enables brake upgrades without the need for spacers. I use these on my Syncro. As long as no rea...

21" fits.
You can use the 21" for the driver's side and the 20 for the passenger.
I use 22" and 21" respectively.
