Re: Autohomes rigid pop top restoration

Hiya, yeah I replaced the rams and the mounting brackets as mine were all shot. I purchased a set of new rams from SGS engineering, I just measured the length of the rams I took off and matched them the best I could to what they had, I then made sure I chose a set that matched the Nm force required ...

Re: Where to draw the line.

Mines a Rusty Lee 3/4 width bed, direct from Rusty Lee, but Van Works do a slightly wider and better thought out one in my opinion. The boards of the Van Works bed bolt to the frame through some welded hinges, I've had to modify my bed to the same thing. The other bonus, is you can buy the upholster...

Re: Where to draw the line.

I can't say I copied your colours. As I've never seen your van, but all I can say is great minds think alike and good colour choice my friend. I'm well chuffed with the combination, the van gets a lot of interest. It's come a long way since my last posts. See images below. I colour coded the pop top...

Re: Where to draw the line.

Hi autostart, I just refurbished the cap myself. It was in pretty good condition to be honest, so may have been replaced by the previous owner or it may just be that it has been well looked after. I did a few repairs and insulated and ply lined it and then had it painted. Sent from my CLT-L09 using ...

Autohomes rigid pop top restoration

Hi all, I am in the process of restoring my VW T25 Autohomes rigid pop top camper and have finally got round to sorting the roof out, after a few months of not working on it due to all the awful weather we had this winter. I seem to have misplaced my paperwork with the dimensions I took down for the...

Re: Vapour barrier

I purchased this thick plastic for mine and can confirm it is good quality and does the job. Stuck it with some industrial double sided tape. Hope this helps. https://www.amazon.co.uk/QVS-Shop-Extra-Polythene-Sheeting/dp/B00C7QBZKO/ref=yo_pop_rec_s_3/259-3672969-7626438?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0...

Re: Where to draw the line.

Looking good! What make of pop top/roof do you have? Sorry for the late response. This is an Autohomes rigid side pop top. The pictures only show the top cap as I've taken the sides off for refurbishment, but I'll post some pics of it up once it's all back together. I'm told these are becoming quit...

Re: Winter battery maintenance

Hi Mocki,

Thanks for the reply. How did you wire the maintainer into the hook up, so that it is automatic? Sounds like a good idea. I have power to the van less than 2m away and it would certainly solve the problem.
Thanks

Hi all, I went out to move the van today and had a flat battery, the vans not geting driven much at the minute due to all the work I've been doing on it, so I thought I'd put a question out to you guys to see how you handle long term storage of your vans and how you keep both the leasure and van bat...

Re: Early sliding door middle bearing removal

OK, I manged to work this out once I cleaned all the crud off of the mechanism. For anyone who might need to do the same and can't work it out. I'll post some pics and a description below. First remove the u shaped bracket from the aluminium casing from the side with the bearing you want to replace,...

Re: Where to draw the line.

As promised Anneapple, here is the spray gun set up we used to do the van. It's a 3M PPS system. You can see the internal pots that are made of a collapseable plastic that fit in a harder outer pot. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191028/d006821f8846ef315eb1329010839f0b.jpg https://uploads.tapata...

Re: Where to draw the line.

Thanks, it's been a long time getting to this stage, as there has been a lot of panel replacement and repairs in the 4 months I've owned it, but it's been well worth it to see it looking loved again. Cant wait to sort the interior out next! As for the spray gun setup, I'm not sure as its my dad doin...

All done! 2 headrests from the scrap yard and 2 seatbelts from brickwerks. Kids are happy. Thanks everyone for their help! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190901/76d1467aee67719a70e3cf7e51b80600.jpg Hi there, how did you fit the seatbelts and which ones did you buy from brickwerks? Early sliding door middle bearing removal

Hi guys, I'm in the process of stripping down my sliding door mechanism for a full bearing overhaul and clean up, but I can't for the life of me work out how to remove the bearing circled in the image attached. It looks like there is a nylon plug on one side, but I'm reluctant to just start pulling ...
