Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
This afternoon spent on the chassis rail repair Started with this, plus a bit underneath the smaller hole to the right of the picture. https://i.imgur.com/fNyJCXe.jpg Cut out and patches welded in https://i.imgur.com/qEoaUy6.jpg Dressed and splattered with the end of my last can of weld through prim...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
Finally managed to get a bit more welding done the weekend just gone. It had been on my to do list for well over a month but daily car problems kept taking up my time. Very touch and go with the welder to start with, any feel for it I had started to get from the last session was truly lost to the ex...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
That's what I was planing but the profile and height of the ribs is noticeably different to that of my floor, so just wouldn't look right. I'll call Schofield at some point to check dimensions of the other panel Manflu and sick dog got in the way of the past couple of weeks and a few hours is all I ...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
Coming back to this floor rib repair panel which is bugging me, this is the one I bought. https://www.alanhschofield.com/ourparts/prod_2980992-Cargo-Floor-Repair-8091-251801403LR.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The ribs are too wide and the wrong profile. I measured the...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
Thanks Rick Today was a bit of a non-start as I ran out of welding gas so I got on with chopping out a few little sections of the inner structure towards the rear and made up the repair pieces in card. I'll wait for a sheet of 0.9mm zintec to come to make them up in steel. https://i.imgur.com/uZdFBJ...

Another day on the van. Dislaimer: if you can't stand the sight of rubbish welding, avert your eyes now. https://i.imgur.com/QQplyji.jpg OK so it's not at all pretty. Truth be told I'm a bit of a perfectionist and it has always held me back with welding as I struggle to get through the rubbish phase...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
A bit of hammering and a lot of patience got me this far today. After a clean up of the surrounding metalwork I think it's about ready to tap and tack in so that I can shape the edge that meets the existing panel. https://i.imgur.com/ODXM4in.jpg The original captive nuts were removed, cleaned up and...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
Keeping the momentum going didn't really work, weddings and RetroRides' The Gathering somewhat got in the way. I squeezed in a cheeky hour with the van yesterday evening despite being 'on holiday'. Still struggling to get the shelf panel to fit without gaps at the flanges but with a bit of beating i...

Re: Project Phoebe - a diary and some advice seeking
A slightly slower day than I would have liked but more progress (read holes) made. While Mrs8925 stripped back some more underseal https://i.imgur.com/EznF4V6.jpg I spent far longer than should have taken to unpick the corner shelf panel, but eventually out it came. Before going any further I though...

Long suffering Hubby here  Some more pre-pics once we'd taken the interior trim panels off. We knew it was bodged and would be a bit of a challenge when we got it, but I suppose we were naively hopeful it wasn't as bad as it seemed. Obviously it is/was. https://i.imgur.com/votNDcx.jpg https://i...
