Fuel tank upgrade

For anyone know if it’s possible to upgrade the fuel tank in terms of capacity?

I’m at the stage where I need to buy a new tank it’s for a air cooled petrol westy so range is not great and a bigger tank would be a great help for longer distances?

Re: Alternatives to 2.0l Aircooled CU engine

I have rebuilt my CU engine for no more than €1000 including upgraded pistons and rings, new valves and seats etc..

If you are anyway mechanically inclined these are not hard to rebuild.

Plenty of great info on here and online

Re: Any hope for Aircooled MPG?

It is I’m well pleased.

Constantly check tyre pressures before any trips and take it easy on the roads.

It’s no diesel but I have a real live for the Aircooled engines!

Re: Any hope for Aircooled MPG?

I have been consistently getting between 9.5 to 10.5 L per 100km on my 2.0 CU engine after the rebuild. Have been using millers VsPE power plus also and really notice the difference. As always driving style is the key factor no matter what car you drive regarding MPG Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: 1983 2.0L Aircooled Dual Carb hose layout

Hey I think there should be a vacuum hose going to the right hand side carb.

I will take a clear picture on my engine tomorrow and confirm.

I swear by this stuff https://www.halfords.ie/motoring/engine-oils-fluids/fuel-oil-additives/millers-vspe-powerplus-multishot-500ml-130850.html I have a 1981 CU engine and have noticed the difference with and without use. Far less pinking and smoother running with this! Sent from my iPhone using Tap...

Thanks everyone. I understand the pros and cons but hopefully I will get more return on buying the K&N on the lifetime of my vehicles as I have no plans on selling anyone soon. Would be great to see any definitive proof on a rolling road with / without one v standard air filter. Every little hel...

Re: Where to mount an eber in an Aircooled

I put my heater in the original position that my old eber was. I was able to plumb the vents into the old channel so comes out the original hole under the back seat.

Works great.

Can take a few licks at the weekend if you want?

Re: Aftermarket front Opening Quarterlights

I got mine too off a well know Vw classic parts seller. Responded with a detailed email about how bad first of all how they were made. I actually had to slit them in half to get them to fit. The fit was so bad I will not do the passenger side as I don’t want to endure that torture again. No response...
