Re: lumpy idle and backfire
Hi Guys, many thanks for all your responses and suggestions. I have now purchased and fitted new plugs, leads, coil, cap, rotor arm, fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter. I have adjusted the pre-load on the tappets (again) and ran a compression test after. All cylinders are around 175 PSI (12 ...

lumpy idle and backfire
Hi Guys, thanks in advance for reading and any help much appreciated. I'll have to give you a bit of background to the problem first. T25 1986 petrol 1.9. My son's campervan. I do all the maintainance on it. I noted a few weeks back an oil leak that dripped slowly but continually. Also that th...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Odd way to spend a bank holiday I know but I think at last it is done. Rechecked the flow of pipes and the one from the top of the thermostat was going to the top hose so swapped them out. Cut back the wires to the other temp sensor and then discovered that there was some odd wiring going on in an...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Thanks to both for your replies. it isn't an injection set up it came with pierburg carb that said there are two sensors mounted in the thermostat housing one facing forward which has the wiring you've stated white/red and brown and there is another facing to the left of the van. I'd assumed this...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Morning all, well all the hoses are now in place and took the leap to pull the engine out again to replace the flywheel and starter bush as suggested. the juddering cranking has gone now so all to the good. I know I could have pulled the bush with the engine in place but there were iron fillings v...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Hi Guys,
Just a quick heads up. I ordered all the parts as detailed by Smiffo from Brickwerks and they arrive tomorrow as soon as I get them all fitted and up and running I'll let you know the outcome of all your good work.

Re: Which hose goes where?
Cheers Smiffo you've been amazing. will start a new post with a video as I'm not keen on pulling the engine out again. I did keep all the parts from the old engine including clutch and flywheel so if I need to I can replace but I'd rather not just now.

Re: Which hose goes where?
Smiffo, you are amazing! what a comprehensive answer thank you so much. the thermostat housing is turned through 90' because in it's original place it was pointing towards the bulkhead and actually hitting it so it did kill two birds with one stone in allowing me to be able to also get the hose to ...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Thanks Smiffo, I do not have a tower located where you say it should be, I do have 5 outlets on the bleed pipe though which came with the engine. I've spliced the pipes from the original configuration to fit the new engine but I'm really shooting in the dark. I'm assuming the hose from the top of...

Re: Which hose goes where?
Thanks again for all your suggestions. The engine arrived on a pallet with all the pipes intact including the metal pipe that runs round the engine bay. The last hose from that metal pipe was cut. I"m happy to order new hoses in order to get the van to fit the engine as suggested but can't s...
