Accelerator pedal fail
Hello all. I was warming up the 1990 Caravelle today and the right angled rod below the throttle pedal pulled out of the flat metal plate cable retainer hole (if that make sense?). With a bit of fiddling around with a screwdriver, I managed to get the right angled rod back into the hole. A bit worri...

Re: Auto starting problem..
Great! Thanks for that. Have tried online & local vw/audi/merc part supplier without success. Having the part numbers helps a lot. Will contact local garage and try to locate parts. Cheers

Re: Auto starting problem..
Sometimes it will start, sometimes it won't..
Have to wiggle the gear selector back and forth a few times to start her up.
Does anyone know where I could get the replacement electrical contacts from? No luck so far..
Thanks - Paul

Re: Auto starting problem..
Got it, thanks. The copper contacts in the white plastic bit are not worn through, but very dirty after 20 years of use. Also the push in copper connector on the gear selector. I have given them a good clean up. Battery on charge, so will see how it goes tomorrow. Thanks again guys!

Re: Halfords blue AntiFreeze -v- VW G12
Halfords blue AntiFreeze does not mention being phosphate free. I believe the cooling system is about empty after blasting steam out of the split pipe for a while (very small right angled pipe coming out of oil cooler, next to exhaust, not easy to get to!). We have a water softener, maybe use the wa...

Halfords blue AntiFreeze -v- VW G12
After a water pipe split and lost all the coolant on my 1990 petrol Caravelle, I have replaced the pipe and bought some Halfords blue Antifreeze. Just checking the coolant capacities on the Wiki, I notice that VW G12 is the recommended AntiFreeze. Is the Halfords stuff ok to use, or should I take it...

Re: water pipe split..
The one you linked to is from the water pump to the steel pipe that drops round the side of the large steel pipe and down to the oil cooler. Hello again, It is the pipe that runs down towards the oil filter, right next to the exhaust manifold. Attached to a steel pipe that runs along the top of the...

water pipe split..
Driving home today in my 1990 Caravelle 2.1 petrol, the small right angled water pipe just above the oil filter split. A bit difficult to get to the spring pipe retainers. Do you have to remove the oil filter to replace the pipe? Does the pipe have a part number, or is it just a bit of water pipe cu...
