3h gearbox playing up. Friend said he could dismantle and check for wear. Now tells me he needs a special huge serrated spanner. Any ideas of availability/ hire/borrow? I would buy secondhand box but have been scanning ads for ages with no luck. all replies much appreciated. Thanks. Richard.

Re: Gearbox Issues
Out of the blue an old engineer friend came round and when I mentioned the problem with the gearbox he told me to drop it out and he will see what the problem is. When I've looked at rebuilding on you tube it all looks like black magic but he seems totally unfazed by it all. I'll write again with an...

Re: Gearbox Issues
Sorry......it's a diesel 1600 bored out to 1900. It may originally have come from a Passat in about1992 but it's so long ago now I can't be sure. Is there any way to tell for sure?. I can't believe how helpful you are. It's really heartwarming when one is surrounded by so many prats every day. A mil...

Re: Gearbox Issues
Very helpful as always. Many thanks. I'm just wondering if the various gearboxes in the rjes website are physically all the same to fit to the engine, so that if a box is similar in performance then will the bell housing, length of box etc., be like the old one or not? I don't want to buy a box unse...

Re: Gearbox Issues
Like yours my gearbox is shot. How important is it to get a box with the same code? And do all the gearboxes of different codes for the t25 nevertheless fit straight onto the engine? In other words are they all interchangeable? If so l'll hang on until I come across a replacement.........like lookin...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
Good evening sir, Please tell me what RAL number is Glenn's 77 camper as per web site picture. It seems to be the same colour as my original colour on the van from the VW factory. I hope I'm right or perhaps you can correct me please. I had a go with some Color combi last year but it kept coming out ...

Replacement gear-stick assembly etc., etc.
Just returned from 2 weeks in Scotland where the gear stick in my diesel T25 (1984) broke off....and it's only 24 years old.....I've looked at the FAQs but am not too sure what to order. The pivot ball joint is also worn and there is a spring loaded plunger on the bottom end of the stick underneath ...

Phil, thanks for the reply. My particular engine has the water pump under the alternator right at the back of the engine as you said. However one of the bolts on the pump casing is behind this pulley wheel round which the cam belt runs. I thought I'd trap the belt to save the timing and remove the p...

Water pump removal-1600 diesel.
Help please, I need to change the water pump on a 1600 diesel but the free-wheeling pulley that the cam belt goes round is in the way. How do I remove it and is this pulley adjustable? Many thanks, Rich.

Where to sell a Leisuredrive T25
We've owned a VW camper since 1987. It has a 1990 Passat diesel engine bored out to 1900 cc.The blue paintwork needs attention because of dings and scratches. We recently lent it to a relative who returned it saying "a red light keeps flashing on the dash". In spite of this he continued to...
