Re: PAS Steering Rack Bushes

Rack bushes same for all models. There is a lot of lateral movement due to the flats on the Bush, like I say, if you're stuck and want to get it through the test then turn them 90 degrees so the flats are top and bottom. The colour of the powerflex bushes denotes their shore rating, their hardness. ...

Re: PAS Steering Rack Bushes

We've never stocked rubber. Can't see us stocking any time soon, to me they are pointless! Powerflex are having a few staffing issues at the moment, their factory is properly cramped, everyone on top of each other, not the best place to be during "this". We're ordering decent amounts...

Re: PAS Steering Rack Bushes

As a cheap trick to improve feel then turn the bushes 90° in the hole so the cut outs are at the top and bottom rather than at the sides. The rubber is particularly soft from new. If you enjoy the driving a bus feel, constantly correcting your trajectory then rubber is fine, as you say, there for a ...

Re: Radiator core size

There are 2 core thicknesses, around 34mm as fitted to 1.9l Df, DG etc and the thicker one at around 44mm. Mounting wise they are interchangeable, tanks are the same (or were originally) only the core thickness changes. A lot of aftermarket suppliers have bad cross references and list the part numbe...

Re: Front Radius Rod Mount Fubarred. Options

Oh, and we found that it's easier to completely fill the 3 parts of the sandwich then drill the hole through afterward, they all align then, 32mm from memory.
Cut the inside skin off, cut the outside skin off. repair the middle skin, replace inner and outer skins, drill through.

Re: Front Radius Rod Mount Fubarred. Options

Quickest and easiest way to strip. If the chassis holes are worn then the radius rod will be nibbled too. Cut the rod off, air gun on the remains. I do have the design here for some plates, when we had the workshop then it was quite a common job welding those up so I had a template where I could jus...

They aren't that tight but they are brittle.
Warm 'em up gently and evenly, blow torch should suffice then lever them off.
If you use a puller on the outer edge you'll flex 'em and they'll probably go ping.
Try and use an angled bar and lever then from as close to the centre as you can.

Re: quality parts manufacturers

OE for this part was Lemfoerder or TRW, neither now produce this part. We've sold LOADS of JP Group ones without any returns, got some on my own vehicles without issue. Sensible money.

Did you think to tell Brickwerks?
Quite happy to help find parts if we're asked but by the sounds of it your van has been bastardised so we may have sent the right thing but your van doesn't have on what it should have on.

Re: agg flywheel and clutch question

We've been using single mass conversions for tuned AAZ with good results. We have them in stock for workshop use but just letting the guinea pigs run a little longer before we list them. Need to use a "TDI" input shaft and the flat cover plate and as with the DMF the starter nose also need...

Re: advancing JX diesel injector timing

Normal setting everyone seems to use to account for a bit of wear is 1mm of lift @ TDC. Replacing the head without measuring piston protrusion and just fitting a 3 Notch head gasket will also result in poor starting and performance. So many things it could be, you'll just have to work through it. ht...
