Re: Having trouble getting recon DF engine to run smoothly
Is there an accelerater pump on the pict 5? Yes the pict 5 has an accelerator pump. I have checked the quantity of fuel being delivered and it is about right. Was the carb swapped from the original engine? Yes, but it is a long time since it was running OK. I would check the basics first I may have...

Having trouble getting recon DF engine to run smoothly
Here’s the background. After overheating problems damaged the old engine, I fitted a recon DF engine in my 1983 T25. Now back running, but big problems when the engine comes under load (accelerating and gradients). Anything other than the MOST GENTLE use of the throttle results in backfiring and com...

Re: Testing hall sensor
As they are pattern parts they could all be coming out of the same factory and reboxed, until someone buys the different types and compares them we don't know. Feedback - I bought J10729 from Just Kampers at £43. The label on the box said "Distributed by JP Group a/s Denmark". I followed ...

Re: Testing hall sensor
Thanks bigherb. I checked the voltage across the outside pins and found 12 volts - so it seems like time for a new hall sensor. Info on JustKampers says I may need to re-use the connector from my old unit. Has anyone tried this? Is it as straightforward as it sounds? Is it best to join the wires ins...

Testing hall sensor
The responses to what2do's question in "Testing hall sender - idiot's guide" were very helpful - but before I buy a new sensor, I would like to check a few more things. I carried out the test that bigherb posted: Remove the centre HT lead from the distributor and hold it about 5mm away fro...

Re: Expansion and top-up tanks – can I change to later system?
Thanks for pointing out the vacuum valve. As I have the expansion tank out at the moment, I've been able to test the whole setup. The vacuum valve seems to be working, but the seal between the cap and the top of the tank is suspect - maybe the condition of the sealing surface on the tank or lack of ...

Re: Expansion and top-up tanks – can I change to later system?
Thanks bigherb, from memory my cap doesn't look the same in the centre - I will have another (more careful) look.

Expansion and top-up tanks – can I change to later system?
Hi. My first post on any forum, ever! T25 (1983) DF Engine - Leisuredrive conversion – a charmingly retro nightmare. My coolant tank arrangement is as section 1-4 of the Haynes manual (the expansion tank has a metal cap). Examining the cap, it seems to be a simple “pressure-relief valve” (i.e. as th...
