The van was manual orginally but was changed to automatic in Germany. From your experience then should I be looking at beefing up the engine. I was talking to a mechanic about my woes and he mentioned a subaru engine being fitted but I was thinking a gearbox change may make 65mph cruising more enjoy...

The only position the inner tent could be placed was the same side as the front end of the vehicle meaning you stepped out from the van directly onto it . answer here is I have never removed the expansion cap when its been hot. Friend got burnt once doing that.( I learnt from his mistake - he he)

Did not remove the steering wheel. but the column came down, after a lot of head scratching and tuting, I drilled them out and will replace with an alternative nut and bolt ( lock nuts ) To take the box out there are six bolts. Update - The heater box had never been touched so have prized the thing apart. The blower was solid. Bit of wd40 and it fired back to life, but I am not going to do this again ( hopefully ) so I am buying a new one. As for the resistor, I will take your advice and get a new one for the same reason, ...

Thanks all for you help. I have checked out the wiring using a digital volt meter. At the main battery ( MB) with engine turned off and on - 12v ( 11.8v) Disconnected the leisure battery (LB), no change, the main battery still showing 12v I took a reading off the alternator, with engine running, 14....
