Re: No idle

Thanks bamboobilly I will check to see if the vacuum thing hasn't been knocked or split, where abouts is it?

Bonjour sarran, nope it's not the original ignition system I put in a Powersparks distributor and coil etc a few years ago.

No idle

I have a 1983 petrol 2 ltr cu engine with twin carbs. Re: Cold idle problems.

Thanks for the reply. Tried opening the throttle using the bar between attendants but it didn't make any difference, still wouldn't idle when started from cold. This is a problem that has gradually got worse over time. Recently had the carbs rebalanced, courageous have anything to do with it?

Cold idle problems.

Evening all. 1983 2ltr petrol CU engine. When the engine is cold my van won't idle and just suits out. After 5mins of driving or racing it idles perfectly. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Fitted a new idle cut off valve thinking it might be that but no joy.

Fuel explosion in carb

Good evening, got a 2 ltr cu engine petrol van and problems with the right hand carb. With rocket cover off if I accelerate you can see an explosion of fuel into the carb and a popping sound. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Re: Emissions not failure

Just been to my local crazy guy mechanic and he reckons the carbs need regulating but before I should do anything I should change the spark plugs. Does this sound right and if so which ones should I be getting? It's a 1983 2ltr cu engine petrol?

Re: Emissions not failure

Yep I think it's running on its original twin solex carbs. I love in france so the mot might be different than in England but I have a reading of 9.36% CO and it should be less than 4.5%. Also when they do the test they rev the a bit out of it!! Not sure how to adjust the mixture of if it'll help at...

Re: Horn troubles

Plus at the moment I am volunteering 12 volts at the horn when the ignition is on and the horn button pressed. It's not constant with just ignition on.

Re: Horn troubles

To be honest I was just guessing a the ticking being from a relay because it was coming from behind the fuse box. So I have checked the horn push switch contacts and cleaned the, not sure what the pick up ring is!  so for wiring, from the fuse box I have a red wire that runs to the positive horn ter...

Re: Horn troubles

So I have now checked the earth and cleaned things at the base of the steering column and re crimped tighter the earth that goes to the steering wheel and checked the one that goes into the horn and they're all fine. Also getting slightly more voltage at the horn terminals 11.6v and still not workin...
