I know it sounds a little obvious, but did you plug the vacuum hose when you disconnected it from the dizzy??
I normally use a small screw.

Re: Early 1.9 to 2.1 conversion - stop me if I'm being stupid!
This is a great thread and has come along at Just the right time. I will be swapping out my DG for a DJ over the winter and running it on the DG’s Pierburg. The DJ is coming from a friend and will come with it’s original distributor. How did you connect up the Vacuum side of the DJ distributor with ...

Re: Early 1.9 to 2.1 conversion - stop me if I'm being stupid!
I found this on another post. If it helps. The fuel injected DJ has a dual vac dizzy which has, er, dual vac, but that relies on a constant vac signal from the plenum for retard, and a ported vac signal from the throttle body for advance. (Thus, as soon as you open the throttle, the advance vac sign...

Re: Early 1.9 to 2.1 conversion - stop me if I'm being stupid!
Thanks for the info Cjh.
I am looking forward to seeing how you get on with the rolling road as I am fitting a 2.1 Dj in place of my tired 1.9 Dg over the winter.
I will be using the Dg carb to start with.
Cheers Neil

Hi Cjh
Are you running with the Dj distributor with the carburettor? If so how do you connect the two vacuum ports?
Or is it on the Dg distributor?
Thanks for any help
Neil

Re: What distributor is this?
Hi Air_Chilled
I know this was nearly a year ago. But did you ever sort out which distributor to run?
I am going to be fitting a 2.1 Dj in my van and running it on the pierburg carburettor.
And not sure if it is best to use the original Dj distributor or the Dg distributor??
Cheers for any help.
