Re: Oil query

But does it matter if the oil in my engine is mineral and I top up with synthetic?  I've been advised not to do that on here and by the mechanic that I use. I can't upload the photos of the oil container labels - I can't work out how to do this. But Really the only other info on the container is Fuc...

Oil query

I've bought my usual brand of oil and it's 15w-40 - Fuchs Titan Formula - but it doesn't say either mineral or synthetic on the labels.  How do I know if it's mineral?

Re: music system

Great, thanks.  I'd definitely like something retro - but not gimmicky.  Found a handsome looking Blaupunkt, which reminds me of the 1980's.

music system

I haven't bought a car stereo for 15 years and I'm aware that they're probably quite different to what they were back then.  Any advice/suggestions/do's and don'ts. Also, is it possible to fit a stereo so that it switches off with the ignition?

Interior light - Galley

Hi Shortly after I bought my van, around 13 years ago, my galley light (over the cooker) died.  I replaced it with something that looked like the original and I've never been happy with it.  Anyways, that light also died a few weeks ago and so I need to replace it?  Struggling to source one - plenty...

Re: Oil Light and Buzzer

Wet oil pressure test completed and they're all fine.  Also drained and changed oil - and I've promised never to use synthetic as a top up ever again.  Mechanic has checked the switches and believes the fault (as you have all pretty much predicted) is a wiring issue somewhere at the front end. Just ...

Re: Oil Light and Buzzer

Thanks all.  Someone is going to do a wet oil pressure test next week.  I'll ask him to look at the wiring.

Will it be an idea to change oil because I mixed in some synthetic?

Aidan wrote: 16 Apr 2026, 18:44 so does the oil light come on when the ignition is switched on ?

and then go out when the engine starts ?

No, the oil light comes on (flashing on and off) as soon as the engine is started from cold.

Re: Oil Light and Buzzer

Mechanic has fitted new switch but this has created a different oil light issue.  When engine is started up the oil light starts to flash intermittently at regular intervals - like an indicator light.  No buzzer.  I drove the van home and as the engine started to warm up the light only flashed when ...

Obviously, engine rebuild/replacement could be the outcome  :(   Are they really difficult to find?  Possibly start a new thread for this one

Re: Oil Light and Buzzer

so check security of connector at the dash to ensure tacho signal is getting to the bod circuit and do a wet oil pressure test to check that the oil pressure when hot is actually okay so you can safely ignore bod which high pressure switch have you got fitted the original white 1.8 bar one or the '...

Re: Oil Light and Buzzer

Just to expand this a little.  The problem has arisen when the van has warmed up.  Both times after around 20 mins or 5-6 miles.  I've been driving it pretty regularly in between alert incidences but only to work which is less that 3 mile journey. Also, I used a different type of oil last time I top...
