Re: From cable to hydraulic clutch.
the flexi rubber hose and metal pipe combo is the early set up. vw went to 1 piece plastic pipe thereafter, you should fit a plastic pipe , simpler in the long run , no support bracket brickwerks should do new , I will have a used one. 2.0 only came with hydraulic , the bell housings are swapped to ...

Re: From cable to hydraulic clutch.
super late reply , yes it goes through the cable hole in the floor.
early pipes are metal , late are plastic to a join just outside (tight against the rad on watercooled)

Re: Using old diesel
I have used stuff which is 10+ years old without an issue.
although it does seem darker and slightly thicker!
use a filter on the funnel and leave a dribble in the base of the can as that will have any dirt / water in it.

Re: Using old diesel
never had a problem with old diesel. petrol I have after a couple of months
I would happily run it in my stuff. mix it with fresh if your unsure.
were dealing with old engines so there tolerances are less than new stuff

Re: Broken gear lever!
interesting to see if your gear selection is stiff or your being heavy handed with the shift.
you should be able to change gear with one finger , no struggle and it should just 'drop in'
