To flip or not to flip

Hi all, I'm currently running my van with 1.9m-tdi and 5 speed (ass i think) gearbox with very expensive taller diff fitted for the diesel engine. Problem is the 5 speed box is jumping out of 2nd and 5th, its not linkages they have been rebuilt and adjusted multiple times! I'm currently rebuilding a...

Re: T3 Bathroom?

It would be a whole new euphemism for taking a dump: just need to check the oil.. :rofl :rofl :rofl +1 for me itchy I think it's an awesome idea. I've been on the look out for one for a few years, ever since I saw one for the first time. We go to a few festivals each year and keep the Thetford in t...

Re: Cracks in high top - help!

Hi, this looks like crazing of the gelcoat on the roof. although it seems like a bad case it is very common on old fiberglass and there are alot of gelcoat repair products available these days. I wouldn't be massively put off by this, a quick Google of gelcoat crazing and repair should give you some...

Re: Wheel bearing help!

Thanks for all the responses. The MOT tester is a good friend and works in a local 'old school' garage. They work on everything from modern motors to classic and vintage cars. He was right to fail the bearings as they where completely shot. Although I appreciate most garages these days would struggl...

Re: Wheel bearing help!

Cheers for the update Bob. I managed to get my feelers out today. 0.7mm between roller and race!!! On brand new bearings which were a good fit in the hub? Good news from the supplier though, they have said they will accept them for return and refund, and send them back to meyle for inspection as wel...

Wheel bearing help!

Poppy van failed her mot last Saturday on both rear wheel bearings. I stripped of hubs and ordered replacements, meyle. I fitted new bearings and refitted the hub only to find the new bearing has more play than the old worn out ones! The inner race of the outer rear bearing is slack in the rollers! ...

Re: The transformation begins!

The interior refit had kept me so busy for the last month that I hadn't had time to do any updates. But I managed to get it finished (more or less) in time for our first trip away! Here's some before pictures of the b&q special interior. http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll163/martinlyon83/80-9...

Re: Anyone weighed their van!

Somebody has been using chipboard or mdf! :D I resent that remark! Just refitted the interior with light weight Poplar ply furniture board to get rid of the b&q kitchen cabinet interior fitted by PO. I used 2 sheets at 22kg each and had a lot of scrap and off cuts left so maybe only 35kg in fur...

Anyone weighed their van!

I live in a rural area and have the use of a local farmers weigh bridge, so I thought I'd weigh the van since the pop top is now on and the new interior is in. I got a bit of a shock given that there wasn't any camping gear in the van yet just empty cupboards and a full tank of fuel! http://i288.pho...

Progress this week has been slow but steady me and the wife have trimmed out some of the van. I don't think it'll win any awards but looks ok to us.

Re: The transformation begins!

I think all merlos were made by Italians on a Friday afternoon. It's a handy machine but i think the previous owner had the best out of it. I don't consider it cheating though just being resourceful.
