Re: Rear door modification

Hi CS,

There are several threads on the Samba with more or less elaborate solutions for inspiration .

It’s on my list as well..

Re: Permanent Removal of Westfalia Fridge

When I removed the fridge from my previous camper to install a Waeco, I just got a blind plug for the gas pipe at the local cara van dealer. You already have the nut from the old gas pipe. Do a Google search for "blind plug gas 8mm"

Re: External Vents on Westy Joker

I have the same on my Westy just imported from Norway. I hadn't seen them before. I thought they might a special Norwegian requirement from back then.

Where's your van originally from?

Re: full beam on light bulb MOT fail

The bulb is fed by the Blue/White wire to the dash. Ground is right next to it. It's fairly easy to test whether you have power at the connector, that may tell you whether it's the flexi print. You can also test whether you have power at the bulb socket, maybe use a different ground. Have you tried ...

Re: full beam on light bulb MOT fail

I had the same issue. Bought the bulb from Brickwerks. After a brief panic attack as it didn't fit, I gently pulled the blue diffuser off, and it suddenly fit. The old bulb wasn't actually blown, I think it was a case of a bad earth, as a bit of contact spray and wiggling made it come on as intended...

Re: Water in doka cab floor

Hi Gary,

The heat exchanger in mine leaked due to corrosion. Bought a new one from eBay. It was a fairly easy replacement once I was able to loosen the screws.

Laminate for Westfalia front?

Hi all,

I'm about to start the router to make a ply front for a Waeco fridge as shown by Axeman in his thread: Weco in a Westy.

I think it looks really good, but I can't find the thread about the grey laminate he's referencing. Any pointers to suppliers and materials?

Re: Diemnsions of Westy 3-way fridge?

Kev,

I wasn't too clear there, I meant the fridge in my Westy. I'm not sure which model, but it's not important anymore, as I've bought a Waeco CR50, so nice cold beers...

front/rear heater motors

Hi,

are the front and rear heater motors identical? I can only find one type at Brickwerks, that replace two different items.

Diemnsions of Westy 3-way fridge?

Hi all, Just a quick one: What are the outer dimensions of the Westy fridge? I have found a Waeco fridge MDC 50, http://www.my-caravanning.com/en/products/cooling/compressor-fridges/WAECO-CoolMatic-MDC-50/119 which looks interesting as it's not as deep as the CR-50 (and supposedly with 40% lower pow...

Re: Rear heater matrix leaking

Hi Oldie, thank you for the advice. it was spot on, and the fitting from B&Q didn't even have to be cut. I'll post a picture later. It's probably the shiniest part in the entire van  The coolant loss was minimal, just as predicted. The hardest thing was loosening the screw that held the he...

Re: Rear heater matrix leaking

Oldie, thanks. So it's 15mm internal? I think I'll head down to the local DIY to see what they have. In some ways I'd rather not have the copper pipe heating the seat for 1500km, but it's an easy solution. Any idea on the amount of coolant lost when doing the disconnect, if I don't sit around watchi...

Rear heater matrix leaking

Hi, I wanted to do a bit of vacuuming to get rid of the smell of stale food when turning on the rear heater and I noticed a slight leak from the heater matrix. I'm driving it out of the country on Wednesday, so any advice is most welcome. And as I have to go to work tomorrow, time is short. It leaks...

Re: waeco fridge

Hi, I have been following this and other Waeco threads with great interest, and I have a question: Why is it necessary to adjust the setting of the fridge depending on external temperature? I would have thought the setting only regulated the internal temperature, so a setting of 1 was say 8 degrees ...
