Re: Busman Be
Just another echo to the other comments. Such a nice man. I did have a "What the blithering heck am i doing?" moment when i bought a 16" off him a few years back when i realised i was stood in a foreign airport waiting for a man i had never met, that i had just bought a van off that i...

Re: Stop and crunch in reverse
Been speaking to Jon at syncrospares and him to Aidan. Its in the queue for a rebuild of the bits all round it to make it worth the effort. If it needs gearbox rebuild will probably get a longer forth put in it. Looking at may, so its a long wait. Getting cheezed of with this syncro lark as off road...

Re: Stop and crunch in reverse
Gents, many many thanks for your help. £85 is a lot less than i feared. Is it a easyish job? (no i won't be attempting it myself) or is it a syncrospares job? I presume they or aiden would be the suppliers? Again thanks. Total tally is, two vans, three cars and a bike and all have sh@* the bed in th...

aaaah 1Z! i remember now. My apologies to all . Thanks Russel, Alan and Aiden for the useful info. Take it that will be a new pinion bearing then. Fab. Anyone know how much are they (if you can still get hold of them)? (anyone want to buy a 16" 1z Mtdi camper? )

Stop and crunch in reverse
Imagine my surprise as it has been behaving itself recently. 16' Mtdi aaz syncro, 89 i think. Reversing slowly in a car park and it felt like i hit something solid, someone outside heard a "crunch". I get out, and nothing within 10 metres of me. Odd. Everything is ok for a day. Try reversi...

Re: Syncro poptop in camouflage in West Cornwall???
He hee, fame at last! Yes that would be me, commuting in a 23 year old syncro. Not the wisest of vehicles for the daily grind, but my diesel ford pop has been pretty much permanently off the road (not off road!). Work in Helston. its a 16" with aaz with afn injectors mtdi. Love/ hate !

Re: Charge coolers?
I got one! Futbus Dave put it in on my mtdi conversion. Speak to him. As so much was changed it is difficult to quantify what part of the huge improvement (from jx) comes from the charge cooler.

Adrian Flux seems pretty good. Used him for a few years, and seems cheap.

Re: Invisible Trailer/ 50mph headwind problems: an Update
UPDATE Air filter "diabolical" which I think means quite blocked, and both diffs empty  No test drive as yet as still too busy with kids/work/ triv, but I think it may be a little better now. Only hope that no perm damage to diffs been done. p.s tried to find gearbox code but came u...

Re: Invisible Trailer/ 50mph headwind problems
That was my thought too but it was definately decoupled and tested (coupled and the feeling changes, light comes on ect). Think it may have enough bits wrong to visit Mr Futbus for the first time as I am a techno biff and will only make the situation worse by trying to have a go.

Re: Invisible Trailer/ 50mph headwind problems
Gents, many thanks for the tips. Away with work for next couple of weeks so will update when I get back and do all that is suggested, didn't want to appear ungrateful. Pumped up all tyres to about 37 psi and put new oil in and looked at air inlet/ filter. No long runs so not sure its gone but would ...

Invisible Trailer/ 50mph headwind problems: an Update
Hi all, 16 inch 1.6td syncro problems. Had it a few years now, got it from Mr Plompen and has always had CJ of syncrospares keeping it sweet. It has developed over the last few months (only enough to convince me it was real in the last week) a problem (more than the few that it has that can be ignor...

Re: were retiring!
It may well come to that Mr Baxter ! Was taling to CJ last time about AFN Mtdi and power steering conversion for my arthritic 1.6td 16'. House boiler on its last legs has delayed that though.
