Re: Tyre recommendation
I agree with cobblers there. I’ve had the same ‘Open Country’tyres on my work 4x4 pick up truck and they are a great tyre. Not at all noisy on the tarmac, good in the wet and chunky enough to give better grip when I need to go off into the soft fields. Also they are 108/110 load rated. They were on ...

Thanks for your helpful replies, I’m going to enlist the assistance of a willing helper to crank as I bleed tomorrow. On a different note I’ve had more joy with my old JX syncro . (See separate post in syncro)

Re: 1.7ky won’t start.
Tried turning over for about 3-4mins. Dashboard is faulty and has no lights at all! It’s a job for the end of the project. It did cross my mind that the glow plugs may not be functioning. Is there an easy one man test?

1.7ky won’t start.
I’ve been carrying out a camper conversion on a van I bought for my daughter about 4 years ago. It has been inside my barn/workshop for the last 12months as I’ve been unable to start the engine., which I put down to the starter motor. New starter motor and fresh battery fitted today and there’s plen...

Re: The T3200E thread
Despite the fact that I’ve played around with cars, motor-bikes, tractors, lawn mowers etc since I was old enough to pick up a spanner. it’s only when I read this sort of stuff that I realise how little I actually really know about the internal combustion engine!

I think you’re being a bit unfair here. Yes they are prone to leaks and when they leak the problem is that the moisture gets between the inner and outer skin. Like most other 1970’s/80’s caravan or motor home they’re constructed around a timber frame and timber doesn’t like being damp for any length...

EVT MS polymer 007 hybrid adhesive.
Sounds a bit of a mouthful but I use it for a multitude of tasks. It’s absolutely fantastic. You may need to google it to find a supplier. I buy from Construction Chemicals ltd.

Re: What do you do with scrap parts?
Surely that wasn’t a bad result? Little bit of hassle and you’re a tenner better off! Also with the knowledge that the metal has been re-used and not gone to landfill. The regulation of the scrap metal trade was brought about in an attempt to limit the theft of church roof lead, trackside railway si...

I never encourage the ‘metal fairies’. If you give them any excuse to be there then you can guarantee that they’ll be taking a good look around to see what else of any value is worth a return trip for. Call me tight if you like, but anything that can be ‘weighed in’ (even empty paint tins squashed f...

Have them on standard 14” steel wheels. Lost one on at least 1/2 doz occasions but luckily always spotted it happening at relatively low speed. I’ve spent many an hour searching through hedges and trees!

Hmm... shame you’re so far away from Somerset. I’d drop the van around in the morning, just to save you getting during lockdown!

Sikaflex lastomer 710, made for the job and never fails. Plumbers mate would probably do it but it’s quite ‘stiff’ and would need quite a bit of pulling down to guarantee no small gaps.

Re: Help! How much to repair?
Yes it’s impossible to be exact with a cost. If you are going to pay a reliable professional to carry out the body work and paint then you can say goodbye to a minimum of £5k. That’s from personal experience and then there’s likely to be mechanical work as well. So unless you are going to be keeping...
