I was aware of it however that was missing. Luckily a new one was supplied with the new hall sender. I can't tell you how chuffed we are that we managed to sort it ourselves with just a little research and some friendly advice.

Woohoo!! So we took the plunge, bought a hall sender and followed a few tutorials and guess what?? She's alive and purring like a big red pussy cat!! Thanks all for your advice. No to attack the leaky push rods....

Hi Herb. Bertha was sparking intermittently we ( nice RAC man) checked the obvious and put it down to the distributor. On further investigation we noticed that the hall sender was loose causing damage to the wires which unfortunately during the "prodding and poking" diagnostic process then...
