Inverters only draw the current the attached device needs +what it needs to run. The the majority of cases the are around 90% efficent on full load. If the 12V is working, just get a 240V to 12V transformer.

You will only need a 10A one,

Then you can have the fridge on 12V via relay when Driving, On hook up when on site and Gas at shows or when no mains about.

And you don't have to touch the fridge.
