Re: Aircooled t25 not starting
Could be the ignition amplifier. My 2.0CU would cut out (completely die) and then refuse to start until left for a while. Eventually, it became difficult to start and then would cut-out in ever shorter distances and refuse to start until properly cold. New amplifier instantly solved the issue. Mike

Service advice
Hi My 2.0CU engine camper is running really well. I have owned it for five years and done about 5000 miles in that time. I change the oil every year (maybe excessive??) but have never changed the plugs/ leads/ rotor arm etc in that time. Should I change them if everything is going okay? Thanks for a...

Re: Mouldy interior
I have used Dettol Mould and Mildew in the past to clean my old Eunos convertible I went carefully and quickly on fabrics because it is bleach based. On vinyl and plastics it worked extremely well. Stinks a little afterwards but only needed doing once and did not return.

Re: Securing upper bed boards
Our boards have little recesses in them which a small bathroom door lock is applied to one of them. This then bolts into the runners. Only needed on one board, and then locks in place when the hightop bed is made. Quite neat and definitely effective.

Hi
I'm happy with my Weber ICT34s fitted last year. The power is great, he mpg increased but probably a reflection on how poor mine was running on the original twin Solex.
Therefore any change will be better and almost all owners are happy with replacements/ refurbishments as a consequence.

Re: No compression in both nearside cylinders
Think I need to find someone on the south coast who knows these air cooled engines inside out and get it sorted properly before I break it further fiddling! I use a guy in Cowes, but I am based on the Isle of Wight so it is easy. He gets people coming from Kent and Manchester to get their air coole...

Re: No compression in both nearside cylinders
Hi
I had a garage saying exactly the same, including that I needed a replacement engine.
Turned out to be the brake servo hose was not connected. Fixed with a 10pence jubilee clip.
Take it to a trusted specialist.

Re: Front seat recover
Dave I used a company in N. Ireland who supplied seat covers to fit over the originals. https://www.carseatcoversdirect.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The covers were about £150ish and they look and fit really well. Fitting was easy. The support from the company was exc...

Re: Seat covers on eBay?
Hi I have used this company ... https://www.carseatcoversdirect.com/vw-t25-camper-van" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The covers and service were excellent (leadtime was about 4 weeks). I sent photos of the original seats and they did not recognise the headrests. So they req...

Re: twin or single carbs - solex or weber
Are you sure it is the lack of choke (weather hasn't been all that cold) and not eg a starter motor or battery issue? My starting is hit and miss and I'm convinced the starter motor is past its best and/or the starter motor bushing is binding - on my list to sort... This is a good point too. I boug...

Re: twin or single carbs - solex or weber
Hi About 12 months ago I went from twin Solex to twin Weber. The lack of choke does mean pumping the throttle a few times whilst cranking the engine - but it should start after about five turns..... The beauty is the extra oomph the new carbs gave over my original twin Solex setup. If you are unhapp...

High top lining options?
Evening all, My T25 is a 1981 auto-homes conversion which at some stage in its life had an Empi hightop fitted. The fitting is some years old (I imagine mid 90s), but looks like a quality job without any leaks, rusting or other issues. However, it is still bare fibre glass up there - so I fancy lini...

I suspect I have similar issues (but perhaps slightly worse ). Can I ask how much you are being charged? - did they remove the dash to repair?
Thanks
