Went to see another mechanic friend and he said the wrong dizzy was put on ie a 009. Now getting my original dizzy re-conned. Will see what happens then

Just bought 2 for £4.90 each from Breeze VW dealers

hoo ray!!! the engine has fired up. it was ann electrical fault on the king leads. gave up after 12 hours of trying to start her ended up paying someone to look at it. thanks to everybody for their comments shouldn't be long before i'm back on the road

unfortunately the starter has now croaked and I am waiting for my unit to be re-furbed

unfortunately i am nowhere near Gloucester. the petrol was bought the day we tried to start the engine

thanks to everybody for your responses . we are back in the garage on Monday when we will attempt to fire her up again

cheers. definitely getting a spark; that's the most frustrating thing.the beast should fire up. the leads are set up right...we think. gonna try taking the head off and making sure the firing order is right

i've poured some fuel in and even tried squirting carb cleaner directly in to it.we've been cranking it and manually adjusting advance/ retard....no joy

we can only presume the choke's working properly. if the choke is not working would this prevent the fuel entering the inlet manifold? thanks in advance. sorry about the multiple messages

leads are set up correctly. we were told timing needs to be set when the engine is running

as far as we know everything is working properly

sorry. my name's andy hello club 80-90.we have spent 9 hours trying to start her with no joy

just put a 1600 ac recon engine in my van . we've got a good spark, it's cranking, the carb is getting fuel but there's no bang. it appears that there is no petrol getting through. float chamber full, fuel pump good, new plugs, leads, dissy cap etc please help
