Re: High temp 1.9 dg
I've only gone and fixed it, filled with water and bled using baxters method, it was ticking over on the drive for 40 mins before the fan kicked in. Long test drive some in heavy traffic. The needle stayed 3 or 4mm to the left of the warning light at all times. Chuffed. Drain down tomorrow and fill ...

Re: High temp 1.9 dg
Today has been mainly laying under the van in a puddle, taking out the old and fitting a new radiator. I spent a couple of hours flushing out the system, still getting some soft limescale bits but the water is clear and no longer cloudy. The old radiator had some sticky siliconey type stuff in it. I...

Re: High temp 1.9 dg
Hi Andrew I have been trying without luck to sort it. The other Andrew from campershack has offered a similar solution, it's probably the coolant flow or lack of it. About 10yrs one of the part suppliers was almost giving radiators away, I bought one and I've just got it down from the loft. My plan ...

Re: High temp 1.9 dg
Hiya thought I'd update the ongoing hot running. 12 months on, I have finally removed all of the air from the system, it has been an epic affair, well hopefully, what I have now is about 1hr of normal driving after which the temperature will rise all the way across and then it is all about trying to...

Re: High temp 1.9 dg
Spent today having a go to solve the issue. Drained the coolant washed through with a hosepipe until running clear, through the thermostat housing and through the radiator return. Fitted a new thermostat, changed the coolant fitted a new blue cap that now quacks, the old one I couldn't blow through....

Re: High temp 1.9 dg
Thank you, this place is a joy.
I feel a whole lot better, the temp has always been in the 'b zone'
Thanks again I'll report back when the thermostat is replaced.
Much appreciated
Mark

Re: High temp 1.9 dg

I bought the van in July so its history is unknown, have completed aprox 800 Miles since purchasing with the temp to the right of the red light by about a needle width maybe 2. E D I T. It happened about 1hr into th...

Re: blue smoke
if it where me I would, as the water pump is a serviceable item..........when the impeller drops off in the middle of your holidays and your overheating and don't know why you'd wished you had............others don't and wait for it to break or give a clue that its on its way out. I find preventativ...

Re: california or trooper
it would seem that in the land of vw campers you really can polish a turd......a friend of a friend checked out a prototype for me in bodmin his report was ''I pulled up along side, it was well mopped, I left''....this is apparently a term of disparity among the classic mini hill climbing fraternity...
