Re: 1.9 dg coolant drain problem
Nah, not really. I know nothing about the engine yet, don't want to mess with it till I know a bit more. I managed a reasonable work around. First I whipped the thermostat out of the housing. Then I undid the short large bore 90 deg pipe to the housing and rotated it out to an easy angle and inserte...

Re: 1.9 dg coolant drain problem
That siphon tube sounds like a good idea. It's more the fluid in the lump around the water jackets that I'm worried about though. I might try flushing it through with clean water by shoving a hose in. I guess that as long as the right amount of g12 goes in then the clean water in the block will just...

1.9 dg coolant drain problem
Hi guys, Very new (2 weeks) to T25 life and with competent but limited mechanical skills. I'm trying to drain and refill coolant on my engine but the tin plates over the drain plugs both have seized (on the verge of rounding) nuts on the exhaust side clips. My question is: Can I successfully drain t...

Re: 1.9 DG engine
looking forward to your build thread :ok @Itchy - from the few posts I've seen of yours, you are a bit of a serial rebuilder! Can you steer me towards a build thread that covers water jacket seals mate? I've just bought a wbx powered van and there's coolant leaking from the casings at the jacket jo...

Re: Clutch howl?
The sound literally comes in at the clutch bite and if I dip the clutch (which I do instinctively) it cuts straight away. It only sounds when I'm changing under load. It doesn't make the noise during normal driving.

Re: Clutch howl?
The T4 syncro is an odd beast. T4 bods tell me to go Syncro and vice versa. I'm just spread betting. I think the symptom is probably a universal one.

Clutch howl?
Hey guys, I've been getting a dry howl when changing gear under load for the last few weeks. It does not happen during normal driving, only when either changing down when decelerating or when using higher revs than normal when accelerating. Obviously, this is my precious van and I don't drive it lik...

Hey guys, What a fantastic weekend. I didn't know what to expect, as this was my first off road event ever, but I know for sure that it exceeded anything that I imagined. Really great fun and good company, thanks to Footstuck for the heads-up. I've put a photo journal together located at the link be...
