Re: Removing carpet glue off hightop fibreglass

If the old glue has gone hard...try just sanding down the highlights [Palm sander] and then go over it with new glue and carpet...If you try to remove it with any type of thinners or acetone {nail varnish remover} you are going to end up with a permanent gooey mess.

Re: Cost of fully restored syncro.

Take a look at a bilbo LWB, all the room you need and if you get the 2.5TDI powerplant, 80 MPH is only just 3000 RPM with over 30 MPG and VW garages are everywhere with all the spares you are likely to need, so no waiting around for day/weeks for deliverys that never arrive. As for 4X4, you just don...

Re: singer industrial sewing machine

Being in the curtain and upholstery game over the years, I think that model will do from silk to thin leather. As said before give it a good soaking in sewing machine oil and remove any bobbins underneath and thread and run it for a few minutes to loosen it up. Run it with some old fabric [without t...

Re: Fixing carpet - best tape ?

If you use any spray glue. make sure you mask up any area you dont want to get it on, seats, door cards carpet or flooring in the back behind seats. It might not look as if you managed to spray it without getting anywhere else. That "pooh" will attract dirt like bees to a honeypot.trust me. I'm a re...

Re: Fed up with Your Syncro? Whats next?

I was in Arizona 2 weeks ago and this thing arrived in the parking lot of our hotel. It belongs to a lady who takes part in triathlons, she was on her way to Colorado i think for training. I would sell my T5 for one of these http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s197/terryvanman/IMG_0179.jpg http://i15...

Re: Reader Rides (trial thread)

Here’s my van, its a 2007 Bilbo Celex LWB, I bought it new after saving up for years, in 2007 and have covered nearly 40.000 miles in it. I've driven it down to Spain 4 times and Greece once and lots of the UK. We always try to get out in it every weekend, even if its just up the road to the river i...
