Sliding door catch
I've had a search and couldn't find a comprehensive answer. Our sliding door on our 1985 van works fine but will not stay open as the catch seems to be missing. The hook is there but there's nothing to hook to. Can these catches be bought separately or do you have to buy a complete unit? Thanks.

Air Filter Feed Pipe
I was wondering how the air feed works on my 1.9 petrol 1985 van. I was swapping the plugs and leads last night and I removed the air filter box and housing for better access. The "last" pipe (behind the driver's side rear lights) seemed to not have an air feed - but more of a hole at the ...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
hi phil just reading your post, with out seeing your set up its a bit of a guess but im thinking that someone came up with your set up by just adding to the standard set up and sounds like they connected your liesure battery to the starter through the relay with the idea that whilst your engine is ...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
I've just had a look at the starter battery and something doesn't seem right. To the + terminal I've got the big black thick wire and also a smaller red wire. If both are connected, the van starts and all electrics work, but if I disconnect the smaller red wire, nothing works. Is this red wire the o...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
Hi, it looks a real DIY set-up. Just to confuse matters further is it possible the ICP unit was used previously to charge the batteries using a solar panel? If you Google ICP that seems to be what that unit could be, and it would explain the two loose spade connectors? If you can't get an auto-elec...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
Bit bored because it's raining so I googled your yellow charger thingy... As far as I can tell its a charger for a solar pane powered system http://marinestore.co.uk/CU36207.html which may explain some of your problem. I can't see any evidence of a split charge relay in your pics. Looks like they'v...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
After having a good read of people's posts on various forums, I think I might have identified the problem with my battery. Am I right in thinking the + cable should run from the starter battery to the relay and then to the leisure battery? If this is right, that's what mine does. But for some reason...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
My stickers probably make it look worse than it is. I just labelled everything up so I could identify which wire was what. From the leisure battery is the fridge, sink and cigarette lighter.

Re: Leisure battery confusion
I've had another look and taken some photos, hopefully this will help me explain it a bit better. I've basically got my starter battery with a positive and negative cable running towards the leisure battery: http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd304/philpass79/Misc/Battery3.jpg Then at the leisure ba...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
I was going to suggest asking if anyone in the Manchester/Cheshire area who's hot on wiring could pop and have a look?
I'll take a few photos tonight and post them up and try and explain it a bit more.
I've not noticed a switch but I'll have a look.

Re: Leisure battery confusion
it should only be charging with the engine running.one battery should not be charging the other if thats what you mean... That's what it seems to do when it's all connected in. I think it's been wired in so it needs to be disconnected when the van isn't running, and then it charges when it's runnin...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
this may help with explaining the split charge system.. https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Camping_Interior_Fitting_a_split_charger If the leisure battery is plugged in and charging, is it taking it's charge from the main van battery? If my van is not running/ignition off, the relay indicates it is chargi...

Re: Leisure battery confusion
the wall plugs will only work whilst your on a hook up.as for what the leisure battery powers depends on whats wired up to it.on mine its the eberspacher heater and radio. Thanks for that, I didn't realise that. I thought the battery would power the wall plugs. Our leisure battery powers the water ...

Leisure battery confusion
I'm after a bit of assistance if anyone can help regarding the leisure battery in our recently acquired 1985 van. We're off to Glastonbury soon where there will be no electrical hook-up. I tested the wall plugs last night and they didn't work. We've only ever used them via hook-up before, but I was ...
