Re: Leak thru the tailgate?
Unable to post pics as pretty crap with computers. I have tried to seal the pop rivet area at the rear...I'm guessing it only takes a pin prick of a hole to get thru. The vaseline trick is a good idea. I'll try sealing up the hinges too. The tailgate seems flush, but it may be out, wouldn't take muc...

Leak thru the tailgate?
I have ingress of water into the back of my bus, driver's side, into the wardrobe (autosleeper 1984) I'm having trouble seeing where it is coming in. Rear side window seal looks ok, I've even re-sealed the poptop with sikaflex. The pop top interior is dry as a bone. There is a very slight camber on ...

Re: Head Gasket 1.9 DG
Blimey, if only cold start was that easy! My method is usually to put my foot down on the accelerator once to activate the choke, then foot down again for about 10-20 seconds before it will fire up. If it doesn't fire up because it has been sitting for a week, I give it short bursts on the key so as...

Re: Head Gasket 1.9 DG
Thanks you guys...you really know what you're talking about and even though I have limited understanding, the threads on the water jackets and the photos give me at least some idea what I'm dealing with...but very scary to think how complicated it all is and clearly very expensive whichever route. I...

Head Gasket 1.9 DG
Ok for you guys in the know, have probably replied to so many head gasket posts  I've been told that both sides of the head gasket are 'seeping'. What does this mean ie the bigger picture? I have had the van nearly 2 years, always lose coolant on a trip, not a great deal, I just top up a minim...

Leaking head gasket
Following on from my previous 'brakes' problem, the mechanics have reported that my near side and off side head gaskets are leaking slightly. I know this could be a major problem, but how much of one at this point? I have had the van for 18 months and have always had to top up the coolant after most...

Clunking/knocking noise after front brakes replaced
I've just had my front discs/pads/wheel bearings replaced and on driving home I hear this awful knocking, clunking noise everytime I turn a right hand corner. It happens about 4-5 times in sucession and then stops when you level up back on the road. It's a bit disconcerting when you pay good money t...

Sikaflex
Which is the best Sikaflex to use to re-seal the pop-top to the roof...512 or 221?
Are there any differences between these 2?
Thanks

12v lighting not working
I recently had a problem with the alternator overcharging the batteries (leisure and main). I bought a new voltage regulator which solved the problem. I've recently noticed that the 12 volt lights don't work. We connected to hook up on last weekends camping trip and the lights work off that, so the ...

Re: Alternator
My fuel gauge works though...if the overcharge caused the temperature gauge to burn out, wouldn't it have taken out the fuel gauge too?...that is if it's on the same circuit?
If the circuit has blown, how do I go about getting this fixed? And how much would this cost?

Re: Alternator
I'm hoping it's just a dislodge of a wire somewhere...but I'm not sure where to look. I'll check the sender you suggested Cruz and see how I go. Would there be any other possibilities just so I can run through a checklist? thanks.

Re: Alternator
Hi everyone, finally got this problem fixed, thanks to all and for your recommendations to go with a voltage regulator from auto electrics in Birmingham...spot on. However, after starting the van up I noticed that the temperature gauge isn't working now...and it's always been spot on before. Have I ...

Re: Alternator
Can anyone post a photo of the voltage regulator attached to the alternator please. I've bought a regulator now but I don't seem to be able to see it or feel it on the alternator . The alternator is still in situ at the moment. Thanks.
