And check what sized fuse too. Its not uncommon to see oversized fuse due to it blowing in the past. Read: http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/Co ... eplacement" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and scroll down to: PRE-85 FUSEBOX MOD

Re: Rear Driveshaft just fell off!
Chances are they were rattling about just before it happened. Unfortunately its one of those noises that by the time you've noticed it, its already too late. The sudden acceleration usually prompts the whole thing to part company. Don't worry, I'm a seasoned VW owner and its happened to me three tim...

Yup, and usually with driveshafts it happens just as you pull off from a busy junction so if you advoided that scenario, coult your blessings

Re: Rear Driveshaft just fell off!
I've had good results roughening up ordinary washers when I've had no other choice and they held fine but as Mocki says. you can drive home providing you have tools to do it.

Re: Rear Driveshaft just fell off!
Very very common. Lot of torque on those driveshafts and if they were not done up tight enough last time shaft was removed or CV joint replaced, they WILL work loose> usually you'll find one or two broken or bent. They also MUST have friction washers under bolt heads. You can improvise if they're mi...

Seconded. Crimped connections are great but the solder helps protect the copper from the elements, which these cables are subjected to constantly.

Re: hella style rear lights
Rear lights are very poorly designed. The ULO ones only fare marginally better. I fitted LED panels to mine which almost completely fill each partition within the lenses and the lights are excellent now. More of a mod than plug and play but no regrets doing it as I can easily be seen at night now.

Re: Headlights went dead driving down a busy dark Fens road!
Stalk more likely if a stock system, as its carrying all the current. You'd be well advised to fit proper relays anyway. Fitting bulbs that draw more current will also finish off the lighting stalk if no relays are in the circuit.
